Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Job description

We are Ramp

Blockchain is changing the world and has the potential to turn it upside down. We know that it is time to reverse the model we got used to, where the top 1% decide on everything. Blockchain democratises entertainment, wealth, builds new opportunities for community-driven innovation, shakes up the ancien regime. We’re inches away from the paradigm shift and Ramp is here to help move the needle.

The bottom-up revolution is already on the move and there is still some space onboard. Ramp is here to use the knowledge of finance and technology to make business more open to everyone to join in and make crypto easier. Interacting with crypto-powered apps still feels intimidating for most. We work to unlock a future where crypto is as easy to use as eCommerce is today.

We believe in technology-driven change. We are a part of the decentralised revolution. For us, that means adding value to the world by individual approach and critical eye. Our operating framework is built on passion & hunger. We gathered the best-in-class team to work together on things that matter. We want you to feel challenged and motivated by the company you have and give the same feeling to your teammates.

If you share our values and approach, there is a space for you at Ramp!

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to work on Ramp’s infrastructure closely with the rest of the engineering team. Someone who is excited by the possibilities of working on the intersection of FinTech and blockchain, focused and deeply detail-oriented. The role offers a remote work option, however, we will require presence in the office, either at least 3 days per 2 months or 1 week per quarter.

Core Responsibilities
  • design and implement highly available and scalable systems in modern Cloud computing platforms (mostly in GCP),

  • automate manual processes,

  • develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines,

  • harden our systems' security,

  • increase observability (implement and analyze monitoring and alerting systems).

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience of working as a Site Reliability Engineer or in a similar role e.g. DevOps Engineer,
  • experience in at least one of the modern programming languages (e.g. Java, JavaScript, Python),

  • Linux knowledge and bash scripting,

  • experience with cloud computing platforms (GCP / AWS / Azure - preferably GCP) - network designing, IAM, etc.

  • experience in systems monitoring (Grafana, Prometheus, etc.),

  • extensive experience implementing IaC (especially Terraform),

  • CI/CD experience (CircleCI is a plus),

  • deep knowledge of modern web applications infrastructures and designing them to be scalable and reliable,

  • experience in working (preferably managing) SQL databases,

  • knowledge of containerization and ways to host it (Docker & Kubernetes is a plus),

  • readiness to work in a rapidly scaling up startup,

  • creativity and great problem-solving skills,

  • English (B2).

DataOps experience is a big plus - designing and implementing BI pipelines

We don’t expect you to have all the required skills but we expect that you have experience and knowledge in designing modern, cloud-native solutions while focusing on core factors: reliability, security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. It’s also very important for us that you have good experience in programming - because we love automation and hate manual repetition.

Here's our stack:

  • Cloud Computing platform: Google Cloud Platform (with Firebase)
  • Deployment and configuration: CirceCI, Terraform, Github,
  • SQL database: PostgreSQL
  • Monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus, Google Cloud Stackdriver
  • Other important stuff: SenGrid (email service), GitHub, Redis, BigQuery, RabbitMQ, Docker, bash
